In vitro biosynthesis of organic selenium by Lactobacillus casei from inorganic selenium forms

چکیده
The bioconversion of selenium in the form sodium selenite (Na2 SeO3 ) (SeIV) or selenate SeO4 (SeVI) to organic by Lactobacillus casei (L. casei) was investigated vitro. MRS media supplemented with 1, 2, 5, 10 20 ppm Se, inoculated 2% starter culture about 105 cfu/ ml L. and then incubated up 24 hrs at 37o C. Increasing “Se(IV)” concentrations markedly reduced bacterial growth compared “Se(VI)” indicating cytotoxic effect selenite. 5 more Se(IV) became reddish after hr incubation as a result formation 100-200 nanometer particles (SeNPs). Se speciation cultured supernatants its corresponding cell fractions carried out HPLC-ICP-MS technique. rate extremely higher than Se(VI) both fractions, however supernatant contained highest content. content resulted gradual increase concentration cells fractions. medium 1 completely depleted from inorganic it converted form. Although all only significant residual amount Our results demonstrate ability convert form(s) either inside cells. However, but not Se(VI), limit ppm, accumulated an fraction medium.

Distribution of selenium in zebrafish larvae after exposure to organic and inorganic selenium forms.
Selenium is an essential micronutrient for many organisms, and in vertebrates has a variety of roles associated with protection from reactive oxygen species. Over the past two decades there have been conflicting reports upon human health benefits and detriments arising from consumption of selenium dietary supplements. Thus, early studies report a decrease in the incidence of certain types of ca...
متن کاملComparative effects of organic and inorganic selenium on selenium transfer from sows to nursing pigs.
To investigate the effects of supplemental Se on the transfer of Se to nursing pigs when sows are fed diets containing a Se level above the NRC recommendation (0.15 ppm), sows were fed diets containing no supplemental Se or supplemental (0.3 ppm) Se from sodium selenite or Se yeast. A nonSe-fortified corn-soybean meal basal diet with a high endogenous Se content served as the negative control (...

The goal of the experiment was to compare the effect of four different forms of selenium (Se) − sodium selenite (SS), lactate-protein selenium complex (SL), selenium enriched yeast (SY), and seleniumproteinate (SP) supplemented to pregnant goats on Se concentration and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity in the blood of goats on the day of delivery and also on Se concentration and GSH-Px a...
متن کاملSelenium status in adult cats and dogs fed high levels of dietary inorganic and organic selenium.
Cats (Felis catus) maintain greater blood Se concentrations compared with dogs (Canis familiaris) and, unlike dogs, show no signs of chronic Se toxicity (selenosis) when fed dietary organic Se (selenomethionine) concentrations of 10 μg/g DM. This study investigated the response of cats and dogs to high dietary concentrations of sodium selenite and organic Se to determine differences in metaboli...
متن کاملIn vitro digestion of selenium from selenium- enriched chicken*
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element important for several biological functions, such as thyroid hormone metabolism, anti-aging, and antioxidant protection. Even though reports on Se species in different food products are increasing, the scientific knowledge on the bioaccessible amount of Se species from these products is not as well known. In this work, Se-enriched chicken meat was dige...
